OCL India setting up 8 MW Captive Power Plant

OCL India is in the process of setting up a 8MW Waste heat based captive power plant at its existing Sponge Iron Works plant located at Rajgangpurin Sundargarh district of Orissa. The project activity involves the generation of 8 MW power by utilizing the sensible heat content of waste gas from the Direct Induced Iron (DRI) kilns for generating steam through Waste Heat Recovery Boilers. The electricity generated shall be utilised to partially meet the power requirements of the sponge iron plant, cement plant and refractory unit and will replace power received from the power distribution company Western Electricity Supply Company of Orissa (WESCO) Limited.

The construction work was started in the year 2004. As of now, the project is under implementation and the CPP is scheduled to become operational in April 2006.
