Nirma a leading manufacturer of detergent chemicals is planning to take up an expansion programme at its plant at Porbandar in Gujarat. The project involves increasing the capacity of caustic soda plant from the present 200 tpd to 240 tpd and setting up a pure water plant with an investment of Rs.3,500 million and revamping the soda ash plant to a capacity of 1,200 tpd with an investment of Rs.3,000 million. As of February 2007, the project is still in the planning stage and the company has just signed an MoU with state government of Gujarat.
